The coat of arms as blazoned in full color upon a white disc edged with a gold rope and inscribed "USS WHIRLWIND" at top and "PC 11" in base in blue.
SHIELD
Dark blue and gold are the colors traditionally associated with the U.S. Navy. Celeste, or light blue, represents coastal waters and the Caribbean where much of the USS WHIRLWIND's patrol mission is carried out. White stands for integrity. The shield is divided to simulate the vortex of a whirlwind from which PC 11 takes its name. The anchor combined with the head of a medieval mace denotes authority at sea and the weaponry to implement the duties of the mission. Gold stands for excellence.
CREST
The watchdog signifies fighting spirit, vigilance and diligence in duty and recalls the escort mission of the first ship (SP 221) to bear the name Whirlwind. The hunting horn emphasizes the mission of the USS WHIRLWIND in interdiction operations and the detection of illegal activities. Gold and scarlet stand for excellence and courage.
SUPPORTERS
The trident, adapted from the Naval Special Warfare insignia, is crossed with a Navy sword and refers to the ship's mission of providing support for the Special Warfare Forces.
